And this week’s Spotlight goes to…

August 29, 2008

This week’s Spotlight goes to the backbone of Convention Models & Talent. She has seen CMT grow into the company it is today and ensures that we have the best talent possible representing not only our company but our clients as well. So without further ado, allow me to introduce you to…

Sue Grady

Position within CMT: Talent Coordinator (aka “photo nazi”)

Favorite thing about working at CMT: Making sure that CMT has the very best photos and resumes possible so that our Talent will be considered for the jobs that they apply for.

Likes: The smell of Gardenias (intoxicating!!!) and my little cabin in the woods and all of the peace it brings in my life on a daily basis

Dislikes: Small talk at parties

Hobbies: It used to be flea markets and “junking” until all of the junk began to take over my home, and I had to get rid of it once and for all! (But, I still miss the “hunt”)

Hidden Talent: Playing the piano and Drawing (People don’t know this about me. I always kept it to myself… Not sure why, just my little secret, I guess)

Favorite Quote/Motto: “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but we are spiritual beings have a human experience.”

Brief Bio: I was born in West Palm Beach, FL and graduated high school in Auburn, AL. Upon graduation, I married an Auburn graduate at the age of 18 and have two children. I have lived all over, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Garmisch, Germany for three years! I am currently retired and loving every minute of it!

This week’s Spotlight goes to a woman who wears many hats. She is known around Convention Models and Talent as the Office Manager, Accounting Department, Phone/Internet Crisis Manager, and Story-teller extraordinaire (to name a few)! Who might this lovely lady be?…

Misha Tomesh

(Twitter Misha!)

Position within CMT: Office Manager/Accounting/Human Resources

Favorite thing about working at CMT: The AMAZING people that work for CMT and how outgoing they all are!

Likes: I have a lot of different interests and likes… I love hanging out with friends and going for coffee to chat it up and/or people watch for a few hours! My favorite interests involve arts & crafts - - such as molding with clay, painting landscapes, drawing a moment in time, turning my thoughts into a poem or novel, dancing alone with one hand waving freely, singing in the rain… I also LOVE the outdoors. There’s nothing better than hiking by waterfalls, skiing down a mountain, swimming with the fishes, rafting and camping with friends, and experiencing wildlife first-hand. Soul-searching is something that I will never stop doing; it’s one of those ever-changing things in life and just when you think you have it figured out… the winds shift and you have to start again.

Dislikes: I dislike fake people and dog walkers who don’t carry bags with them.

Hobbies: Arts & Crafts, anything outdoors, hiking, swimming, rafting, boating, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, knee boarding… you get the idea!

Hidden Talent: I can hold my breath under water for 2 minutes!

Favorite Quote/Motto: I don’t really have a favorite quote, but one of the top ones is “Don’t make someone a priority in your life when you’re just an option in theirs.”

Brief Bio: I was born in a car in River Falls, Wisconsin. My family lived in Wisconsin and then New York for a short time. We moved to Georgia in 1997. I graduated from school in 2000 and was married from 2002-2004. After the divorce, I returned to school to get my EMT/Paramedic/Fire-fighting license. Prior to working at CMT, I worked for a banking company and then made the switch to the event staffing industry in June of this year! I’m very excited to see where this opportunity takes me!

Last week we spotlighted the guard dog of CMT, Minnie! And before her, we spotlighted Melissa Platt, Mike Peyton, and Lauren Merritt. It is only fitting that this week’s spotlight goes to Minnie’s mom and owner…

Position within CMT: Managing Director/Manager of Customer Relations (Take your pick!)

Favorite thing about working at CMT: The people I work with

Likes: The beach, animals, and spending time with my friends and family

Dislikes: Cold weather, Auburn, and no call-no shows

Hobbies: Reading, Watching fotball, and organizing

Hidden Talent: Turning on the Southern charm at the drop of a hat

Favorite Quote/Motto: Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don’t, and believe that everything happens for a reason.  If you get a chance, take it; if it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy; they just promised it would be worth it.

Brief Bio: I’m a true Southern girl! I was born in Pinehurst, NC, moved to Georgia in the 8th grade, graduated from the University of Alabama in 2005 and moved to Atlanta.  MY previous work experience has been in Special Education, food and beverage, cosmetics, and banking. I love shopping, reading, art projects, traveling, and playing with my dog Minnie and cat Wyla Bean.

August 8, 2008

Ok, as a recap, we have had three Spotlights thus far: Lauren Merritt (whose birthday is TODAY!), Melissa Platt, and Mike Peyton. This week’s Spotlight goes to a certain someone who had been with CMT for over three years and brings joy to everyone’s faces everytime she greets them at the door…

MINNIE

Position within CMT: Guard Dog

Favorite thing about working at CMT: Lunch time

Likes: Cheese, sleep, and my Nana Lady

Dislikes: Exercise and Being Left Alone

Hobbies: Sleeping, Eating, and Greeting People with my toys

Hidden Talent: I’m the Best Begger Ever!

Favorite Quote/Motto: CHEESE!

Brief Bio: I grew up in Tuscaloosa, AL and quickly became an Alabama fan. I had a great three years there in which I enjoyed visiting my friends, dressing up, and supporting the Crimson Tide. I then moved with my mom to Atlanta. I’ve been here since 2005 and love working for CMT (as you can see by the laptop in my picture). I have a lot of friends in the office who share their lunches with me so I’m satisfied. After work, I like to watch TV, bark at the neighbors, and beg for CHEESE.

TS2 2008 Recap!

August 5, 2008

We (Shelly, Melissa, and myself) exhibited at a tradeshow in Philly last week. It was called TS2 2008… it is basically for exhibitors/vendors to exhibit to other exhibitors and is put on by the Tradeshow Exhibitors Association. Last year we only got about 56 leads but this year we got 2.5 times that much! We had a Ben Franklin impersonator at our CMT booth on the first day of the show and generated a lot of traffic! Thus, proving the theory of utilizing a staffing company to generate buzz and interest at your next tradeshow or event. We are ourselves own successful case study!

The tradeshows are always so much fun to exhibit at and attend. Leading up to them, things are a bit stressful because we want to make sure that everything is perfect and runs smoothly. However, once we arrive and get the booth set up, the stress fades, and it’s time to mix work and pleasure! Not only do tradeshows allow you to advertise and grow your business, but they also allow for new friendships to be made. Even though we all only see each other a handful of times throughout the year, it seems as though we have known each other for years!

Alright, that’s it for now… BUT WAIT! Keep an eye out on Friday for the next CMT Spotlight, and next week we will be posting the video from the tradeshow! Should be a GREAT one!
