Position withing CMT: Sales Executive

Favorite thing about working at CMT: The people are awesome and the office is fabulous… Great ENERGY!

Likes: University of Georgia football, my dogs: Casey and Chloe, Diet Dr. Pepper, champagne, golf, funny movies, the beach, friends, anything that sparkles or has glitter, and meeting new people!

Dislikes: Any SEC football team with the color orange, mean people, and bad smells

Hobbies: Playing golf, watching the DAWGS, reading, socializing, and people watching

Hidden Talent: I can play the piano.

Favorite Quote: Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence. Vince Lombardi

Brief Bio: I am a native of Atlanta, GA, which is rare as less than 3% of the population are natives. As a graduate of the University of Georgia who lives for football season, I experience a brief depression when the season comes to a close each year. I have spent the majority of my career in healthcare sales until the opportunity with Convention Models & Talent. About a year ago, Golf became a new sport for me as an outlet for stress. It’s a mean game and I love it! In addition to football and golf, people watching is entertainment as well as a sport for me… can’t get enough of it!

Likes: pretty clothes and jewelry, sunshine and warm weather, the beach, animals (especially kitties!), learning new words, spelling bees and good grammar

Dislikes: road kill, cockroaches, injustice

Hidden Talent(s): Yoga- I can hang with the most experienced yogis!

Favorite Quote: “Re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul.  And your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in the words, but in the silent lines of the lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes, and in every motion and joint of your body.” –Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

Brief Bio about yourself:  I stumbled into my position at CMT, quite serendipitously, just 6 months ago.  After obtaining my BFA in Costume Design and 7 years of post-college job surfing, I think I may have found my perfect wave!  Free spirited and entrepreneurial at my core, I’ve launched a small, boutique clothing line “Kittenish Clothing”, and currently I am working on a couture inspired, one of kind clothing line, “Couturiette”.  While pursuing my creative ventures, I have paid my bills working in corporate fashion design, retail management and even as a part time Starbucks barista!  I live happily ever after with the love of my life, our two kitties and a baby girl, due in September.

Dancing with the HCEA Stars!

July 7, 2008

Two weeks ago Shelly, Melissa, and myself travelled to Salt Lake City, UT for a tradeshow called HCEA 2008. HCEA (Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association) is an association we belong to for the Healthcare industry. This is an amazing association and the annual tradeshow is a can’t-miss for anyone directly or indirectly involved in healthcare tradeshows and events.

The week started off with setting up the booth on Saturday and then a reception on Saturday evening. At the reception we were able to catch up with colleagues whom we run into at most shows we exhibit at throughout the year. The show itself ran from Sunday through Tuesday with sessions and networking luncheons in between. We handed out colorful boas at our booth this year in conjunction with a party that Shelly helped to sponsor. This party was on Monday night and SO much fun! … Hold on though, I’m getting ahead of myself…

Sunday night was incredible! HCEA had buses arranged to take everyone to a place called La Caille. We all piled in the greyhound-type buses and were transported about 30-45 minutes away from the hotel to the base of Snow Bird, UT. Let me just tell you, there are no pictures or video that can portray the beauty of this place. If you are familiar with Thomas Kinkade’s work, it was as though we were walking into about five of his paintings put together. Once there, we were greeted with women dressed in bustier dresses holding trays of red and white wine, fresh lemonade, and water with lemon. Upon walking up further around the back of the main cottage, we were also greeted with immaculate hors d’oeuvres and a continuation of the breath-taking sight.

Monday evening included the unofficial official party for the HCEA attendees and exhibitors. It was sponsored by Convention Models & Talent’s CEO, Shelly “Jive” Justice, as well as three other members of HCEA. The theme for this year’s party was Dancing with the Stars, We handed out feather multi-colored boas and invitations at our booth during the exhibit hours. Let me tell you, those were a HUGE HIT! The excitement and buzz they generated foreshadowed the night to come. It started off a bit slow as most parties do. People enjoy being “fashionably late” but once everyone remembered that they had their dancing shoes on, we boogied down! It really seemed like a matter of minutes between when the band went on at 10pm and when the lights came on at 2am! This band was incredible too! They are called 24/7 and if you ever have a party in Salt Lake City, I would highly recommend them!

All in all, between the receptions, exhibits, working sessions, luncheons, the boas, and the good time had by all, I would have to say it was quite a successful show! Can’t wait until next year for HCEA 2009!
