Talents of the week!

Since there wasn’t a talent of the week last week, we’re playing catch up and picking two. It works out perfectly since we had an amazing promo this past weekend where Kirsty and Marcy tag-teamed to sell 37 bottles in 2 hours! Marcy is on a couple of our alcohol promotions teams and has always proven to be reliable. Kirsty is new with CMT but has already showed what a great asset she is. Together, they’re even more amazing and are definitely getting booked on these same promotions for the next two months!

Tough day here at CMT

Everyone already knows the handsome office mascot, Bruiser, but we now have a couple of new additions! Meet Chilli, the sole female pup in the office. She can be seen wearing a Juicy-esque jeweled pink hoody, heard office-wide with her jingle bell collar, and is most often found stealing bones from Bruiser’s bed. The newest CMT pup, Yogi, is a beautiful Samoyed who thinks he is 1/4 the size he actually is. Once he’s full-grown, his playful paws will more than likely send Bruiser and Chilli flying across the room. Only on the toughest of days do the pups get to lead our CMT Agency meetings…

Talent of the week

Our talent of the week is Katie! Katie has done a great job working events for us in the past but really stepped up to the plate last week when being called upon last minute. She was more than willing to do everything asked and made her booking agent’s job much easier. We look forward to continuing to work with Katie for this program and many more!

Our inaugural talent of the week!

We’re going to start weekly features on those who go above and beyond for us here at CMT Agency. They deserve the recognition and we know we wouldn’t be where we are as an agency without our amazing talent!

Our inaugural talent of the week will be… (insert drumroll)… ELAINA!

Elaina had her first opportunity with CMT recently when she filled in last-minute for two promotions in Miami. She was extremely professional, never got flustered in the last-minute rush, and all while looking gorgeous! Since then, she has worked for us while in Atlanta and, of course, did a great job again.

We all appreciate your hard work, Elaina!

Hiring right talent crucial

Date: Thursday, October 21, 2010, 2:19pm EDT

In a difficult economy, it’s even more crucial to focus on your current customers — nurture the relationship.

We are focused on building our existing relationships. This will help us drive organic growth and referrals for new client growth.

2011 should continue to improve. We see brands and clients expanding marketing budgets to reinvigorate their event and convention exposure. And the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau is showing signs of a much-improved convention flow into Atlanta.

Convention Models & Talent Inc. was built on listening to what clients needed and wanted when they were looking to outsource their workforce — especially during an economic downturn.

Market competition demands innovation, now more than ever. With new products, services and competitors entering the scene on an ongoing basis, the business world is in a constant state of transition.

Companies must seek out what attracts their target audience and find new ways to communicate their products and services. I have always been an entrepreneur in spirit and in practice. And working for myself has been of paramount importance.

However, I have also come to realize that if you look at your business as a job, then that is what it will become.

As such, if you own your own business primarily to have a job, you are setting your business up to fail. In your previous business careers, most of us were what Michael Gerber refers to in his book, “The E-Myth,” as skilled “technicians.” So, like most entrepreneurs, you believed your earning potential would rise dramatically if you put this skill to work for yourself rather than provide this “technical” skill to someone else.

But if you are the only one doing the work, the “Myth of Entrepreneurship” is born. If you are the business, then you have created a job rather than a business. I have spent this past year developing “talent” well beyond me to to create a company that can work independently of me. No business can get past its initial or conceptual stage if one person occupies all of the roles required to run a business.

Justice is president and CEO of Convention Models & Talent Inc.
